Shipping Information

Here at Snowflake Chocolates we are in the business of selling chocolates. We are not in the business of shipping or making a profit from it.

Our website is linked directly to USPS and UPS to calculate real time shipping charges. You will have the opportunity to choose your own carrier.  Because we are a small business we are not in the position to negotiate lower shipping charges through carriers.

Shipping details are as follows.  We hope this will help you when you have shipping questions.  If you have any further questions please feel free to call us.

Summer Shipping

During the long hot lazy days of summer we ship Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only.  Keeping your order moving is important for it to arrive in it's original form and not chocolate soup.  We monitor the weather closely and package our chocolates accordingly. In the event of extreme hot weather we reserve the right to hold the package until it is practical to ship with success. During summer months we often use larger boxes and more insulating materials to get your chocolates to their destination. This is reflected in the cost. Shipping materials have increased significantly since Covid.  If you have any questions about summer shipping please call us.

USPS Priority Mail

Most packages ship Priority Mail.  We find that USPS Priority Mail is generally less expensive and delivers packages within 2-3 days.  The 2-3 day delivery time is not always guaranteed especially during the holiday package rush. It has been our experience that Priority Mail is for the most part reliable. Packages that are heavier than 8 lbs. or larger than 12 cubic inches may be less expensive through UPS.

UPS

UPS generally has a 1 day delivery time within New England with the exception of remote areas of Maine and Cape Cod.  There is a 1 - 5 day delivery time within the continental United States.  You may get an estimated shipping time through the UPS website.  Larger packages with heavier dimensional weight (boxes measuring larger that 12 cubic inches) will sometimes cost less through UPS but transit time to southern states and west of the Mississippi will take longer than USPS Priority Mail. If you are shipping via UPS ground to states in the south or west of the Mississippi, your order is likely to arrive as chocolate soup, we recommend choosing an expedited option. UPS does not ship to PO Boxes.

Website orders are processed and shipped within 2-4 business days of receipt if all products are in stock.  There may be a delay in a shipment of your order if an item is out of stock.  If that delay is more than 5 business days we will notify you by email.

All products are wrapped in tissue paper then packed in a shipping carton with packing peanuts to serve as a cushion and an insulator. There is some shifting of chocolates inside the box during shipment as we are hand crafted and not all chocolates are uniform in shape.  We package our chocolates to keep them from being crushed during the most busy shipping days of the year.

We ship our orders Monday through Friday weather permitting.  This is not a problem during the busy chocolate season in Vermont.  If an order is being shipped to a warmer climate we reserve the right to hold the order to ship on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid having the package sit a warm climate over a weekend.

If you would like to ship chocolate outside of the United States please contact our Jericho store at 802-899-3373 during business hours.

Expedited shipping is available.  Please call for an estimate.  Most overnight and 2nd day deliveries can be anywhere from $25 to $150 depending on the carrier and the weight of the package.  Again, call for an estimate.

Snowflake Chocolates will do our very best to ship your package out in a timely manner, packed to survive the trials and perils of which ever shipping carrier that you choose.  It is our desire that your chocolate arrive pretty and happy so that the receiver is impressed with both presentation and taste!
